Q.

MINDSET : We have been designed to believe that comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life...whereas,all we need to make life meaningful, are moments...seemingly inconsequential moments...in bits and pieces...and to have a child-like enthusiasm for them.
What is your take on the same?

I want to say SOME OF US have been designed to believe that comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life.
Definition of comfort and luxury varies person to person based on which income group they are. Mostly we are MIG s here.

We are living in concrete jungle enjoying life with all electrical and mechanical appliances.
TV---AC--- FRIDGE I Pod PC LAPTOP CREDIT / DEBIT /PAN /and ID cards are fashion and has become needs of the day.
Ever increasing prices and wages competing with all our desires are way of modern living.
Everyone of a family members has got a room, a PC, a mobile phone etc;.. hardly have they assembled before dining table.

In spite of all luxuries and comforts and all self centered developments .life never gives fullest satisfaction. Fullest happiness. People lives together in a home but they are much apart with their mind.

Too deep a question to answer as it needs perfection, which i guess, lacks in human beings.

Both topics/subjects which u have mentioned, are 2 of life's true aspects .... and all of us, go through this atleast once in our life .... at once we feel money etc is all dats needed .... and at once it all looks fake, n dats when, when we feel love near to us .... family, friends, spouse, etc. it can be anyone's love for which we can sacrifice the best of the luxuries .... and there, the 2nd part of ur question takes the lead .... every moment lived with love being felt is special .... it does make one realize dat this is it .... this is wot life is all about .... no money, no power can buy this for me ....

AND .... I personally always beleived that a child should always be alive in a human .... be it in house life, professional or social .... and the same applies even here, the child like enthusiasm is essential in our life (if one wants to really enjoy the best of the moments)

You are very correct. However we are so obsessed with the riches and comforts that we just think that these are the real sources of happiness in our lives. The child inside us has died long back. However when we mix up with small children and see how happy they are just with very small things or gestures and we really start envying their happiness and their pretty smile.I think we all have a lot to learn from small children to redefine our happiness and meaning in life.

Many people take their relationships very seriously, but also approach them with a childlike enthusiasm and energy. They seek and demand authenticity and depth in their personal relationships and will put forth a lot of effort into making things work out. The meaning of life has to do with who you are as a person. For instance, what can you see yourself doing that means more to you than anything...? What makes you the happiest..? Your life is what you make of it and do with it. The meaning of life is different for every person...and...as you said comfort and luxury for some and to yet some others, it's inconsequential moments of very small things...life is so full of 'meaningful' moments you can't just choose one. It's like 'the best day of your life'. If you really can single out single moments I'm not sure your life has been that busy...When babies are born, when people die, when we get something we badly wanted, when we fall in love or out of love...it's all highly meaningful but ho ...more

You are right..........it reminds me of the poem.....Little deeds of kindness, little words of love, help to make earth happy like the heaven above..........these small small things, these small small moments make life and we forget the simple way of enjoying life........also the child like enthusiasm reminds me of a movie called 'Halo'(1997 ,santosh sivan), n which a small girl 'sasha' searches for her lost little puppy 'halo',and in the process she makes havoc in all the city and later when she finds the puppy out it is with a mentally retarded girl.....and sasha so easily gives the puppy away to her..........what i want to say is that as in love we enjoy giving ,the same thing implies to life.....rather than always trying to gain we should learn to share!!

While on the one hand we enjoy comforts and luxury, on the other hand we all too enjoy that inconsequential moments thru' the child-like enthusism in all of us. That is inherent in all of us mam..... U might have gone thru' the great book " I m ok.. U r Ok.." ..:-)

Numerous desires , not matching wid resources , which does never increases proportionately wid the increase of ur desires, brings us in a state where one can never feel happier...bcoz , if one doesnt have control over its desires, then they, continue to multiply in Geometric progression, and its very tough to deal wid a GP Series.......and in d process, even if we are blessed wid luxuries too, we dont feel the real happiness of having blessed so hugely....its really pity that, most of us have forgotten to enjoy wat we have in hand...and sometime or the other , we find ourselves in a position to recover the things which are never irrecoverable....its not that ,we cant keep the child-like enthusiasm intact , but bit by bit we have been killing that mindset to live a child-like life for some moments atleast....personally, myself being the sole earner and to take care of atleast dependent members of the family including my wife and aged parents...hence , I cant compromise wid my enthusias ...more

My chief requirements in life are not comforts and luxuries... they are mental satisfaction through a meaningful life. In the absence of any thing worthwhile to achieve, through my sensible efforts, comforts and luxuries can be most boring. Of course, it is desired that we enjoy every moment at any place and in any company, we find ourselves with.

Vartaman bhoutik duniya men kuchh is kadar hode machi hai ki adhiktar log comfort & luxury ko hi jeevan ka mukhya maqsad bana baithen hain. "Sayeen itana dijiye jame kutumb samay, main bhi bhookha na rahoon........" Dhan ki sima isliye nirdharit karata hai, kyonki dhan ki atydhi sima aur lalsa maushya ko manushyata se door kar deta hai. Bachhe (child) nadan hoten hain, man ke sachhe hoten hain, par afsos aaj bachhon ke abhibhawak hi bachhon ke man men jane anjane jahar dal rahen hain. Shayad Mehata saheb ne thik kaha hai (apane Ans. men) ki bachhon se ham kafi kuchh sikh sakaten hain, aur sachmuch aaj hamen bachhon se hi jyade sikhane ki jaroorat hai. Dhan kabhi jeene ka sahara nahi ban sakata ,par thoda aatmik anand ya thodi aatmik khushi puri jindagi sahej degi.
