Q.

As a consequence of fundamentalism, journalists are being killed in Pakistan. This situation did not evolve in a day - it has evolved gradually. Similar trends have been witnessed in India as well. the examples are incidents during Gujarat riots, recent atrocities in Orissa, in Nandigram in W. Bengal and many other incidents in other states. Unless such fascist trends are nipped in the bud by strong legislations, a day may come when freedom of press in India also might meet the same fate as in Pakistan.

Well said mate. These cultural brigades are the Indian version of Taliban. We need to kick them in the butt lock stock and barrel.

Freedom is often misused/abused. There is no country like India which can be a better example of this phenomenon. All examples quoted in the q demonstrate the dependence of media reporting in forming this opinion. Journalists have to behave responsibly while enjoying their freedom and must report keeping larger interest of the society and nation in mind. In a zeal to show off their own "professionalism", they often spread their own or their sponsors' ideologies for money or name. backlash to this irresponsible and self righteous behaviour is imminent after certain limit.

India is or rather has already become a capitalistic society. The newer generation especially with professional learnings think about themselves and not the society. The jobs ib aviation and BPO/Call Centers have created a havoc for poor mass. If any harm come upon them they create great hue & cry. The Govt turns to rescue with big-fundings for Satyam type of debacles but crush the peaceful genuine agitations of PSU employees or small Govt employees for wage revisin or regularization of jobs.
