It is said that I am a woman devoid of emotion. I am very very attached to my grand ma and when she died I have never shed a tear. At that time I was about 18. When ever I think of her I have sweet memories of her with me. I always interacts with her about my thoughts, my decisions and important matters with her and believes to have her blessings. It is as though she is accompanying me in all my deeds. It is a strange thought , but believe me it is happening to me. When ever I think of her I happened to remember a song of M.S.Subbulakshmi, " Oli Padaitha kanninoi vaa vaa" which was very dear to her.Since I believe she is still with me, there is no necessity for me to say good bye to her.

These are my thoughts for my Maa who left us on the 20th of July,2007. I wrote this tribute to her one year after her demise which got published in the local newspapers here and I am copying and pasting it with some modifications in the time gone by.

How time flies? They say time is a great healer, but is it really? Time heals but the scars remain. The memories of people we love remain embedded as footprints in our heart.

Late Anila Choudhury, our Maa left for her heavenly abode on the 20th of July 2007. Two and a half years have gone by and it still seems that she is there and has just gone somewhere to return. So whenever I go to my fathers place I still expect her to greet me. My life is still guided by her and it somehow comes as a shock even today when the realization dawns upon me that she is no longer there.

Life is like a river. We are moving without end. Nothing stays with us. What remains are the memories of special people who touched us as waves. Maa was like a cont ...more

Khuda kisi ko kisi pey fidaa na kare, Kare to qayamat tak judaa na kare.
Ye maana ki koi marta nahi judaai mein, Lekin jee bhi to nahi paata tanhaai mein!

It is painful to write to a person who is now departed . Memories still linger. What can I write? A good letter ? or a poem ? Kya kahoon ?

Tumhare yaadonki chaadar me lipati chandani aaj bhi chaayee hai
Tum ho to nahee, par lagta hai tum ho yaheen kaheen, door nahee

Un fizaaon me jhoomte tumhare baalonki khushboo ka nasha
Sitaronki bheed me pyaar ka bana ek nasheela kehkashaan

Par ab ankhome roshni nahee, Sabkuchh hokar kuchh bhi nahee
Raakh ke dher me dhoondhta hoon pyaar ke wo pal jo milte nahee ...more

When we were all together,
We never thought you would leave one day.
Without a word you left,
Never to come back again.
Your absence was felt,
We remembered how caring n loving you were.
O lord ! If we only knew,
We would've clung on to you,
Never let you go.
But go you must and so shall we. ...more
