The Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to jailed former Haryana director general of police SPS Rathore in the Ruchika molestation case. The apex court granted bail to Rathore after taking into consideration the closure reports by the Central Bureau of Investigation in two of the three fresh cases filed by the family of Ruchika Girhotra against Rathore. Comments plz.

The bail given to him by the Supreme Court has acted as salt on the raw wounds of the victim's parents. When the custodian turns culprit, the law must catch up fast and without fail. The ends of justice must be squarely met, notwithstanding the inordinate delay of 20 gruesome years for the victim's immediate family and society at large. But exactly opposite things have taken place in Ruchika's case from the beginning that has not only insulted her and her family but also put a big question mark on the fair and efficient workings of the judiciary. It was Rathore's right to appeal and to ask for bail. However, he does not deserve bail and that too ignoring the mountain of evidence against him and relying on a single point made by the CBI. Is CBI a worthy and capable organization to investigate is a question to ponder about? What is the use of a prime investigation agency where investigations are always tampered?
