Vijender Singh is a very good boxer but if you look at his performances right from the last Olympics till date is his lack of consistency. At one time hw was rated No. 1 in the 75 kg category whereas he failed miserably in the last world cup. I think due to constant media attention, which at times has sneaked into his personal life also and created a sort of Casanova image of him, it has become difficult for him to focus totally on boxing which is more important. But more than anyone else he himself would be very disappointed with this loss. Andy Murray's win over Federer in a months time at the same venue, Isanbaya's loss in women's pole vault, this loss of Vijender Singh, these were all unexpected. That is why sport is so unpredictable and exciting.

Such things are not uncommon in sports. There were many instances of hot favorites & top seeds losing at Wimbledon (or any such major events) in the first round itself that too to virtually unknown players. What explanation can be given to this other than the fact that up and down are part of any sport. I think what has happened to Vijender is just that. Any how it is hard luck for him.
