Hi Kishore,
Thanks for posting such a sensitive question. I believe it's not of much concern whether " quota for 'backward' groups among Muslims " is good or not. believe the very idea of such reservations is flawed in itself. It certainly would hamper, kill and discourage growth and justice to the talent. For any competition it is must that equal opportunities are provided to the competitors, but once that is done it becomes logical to put all the competitors at equal test.
Suppose their are 10 students in a batch, all with different socio economic background. The government should do all it can do to make the students equal for competition, by providing additional funds for the students of weaker section, so that they are able to get desired education as the other students of the batch ( from better sections of the society ). Once that is done , it would not be impartial to reserve opportunities for some.

Muslims and other religion people as well as backward clasess are getting too much reservation which is totally undue and uncalled for.It will certainly effect the good talent of general candidates from enetering into jobs.
We must also see what treatment is meted out to Hindu's in Pakistan and othe Muslim countries and we may very well get the answer whether we should have any reservation for any religion here. This is all political gimmick for cornering votes.
And as for Indian courts what else can be said when the courts rejected a Public Interest Litigation plea filed by someone for a CBI probe into Mayawati's money malas.
