Q.

Union minister Beni Prasad Verma reportedly said that he was "happy" over rising prices of food items as it will benefit farmers. We must appreciate his good intentions. But the big question is whether the farmers will be benefited due to price rise? Your views?

Mr.Verma has no idea about the ground realities. The higher prices of agricultural products do not go to the pockets of the farmers as he is thinking. It goes to the pockets of the middlemen, who mostly r agents of political parties. If he is really interested for the farmers development, why not more cold storages in the rural areas? Besides, the rise in agricultural products do not affect him as either he is not paying from his own legal income or it is paid by others for him.

1) Yeah. He is right in a sense provided the higher prices translate into higher income for the farmers.
2) However, there are rich farmers and poor farmers. Now we understand as to who stands to benefit from the higher prices of food items.

I support the minister. You people involve in trading, grain hoarding, sitting in AC and getting salary, buying several flats and selling at double price. So you want to become rich, why not farmers. So definitely agri commodities should be at double the price than what they are now.
