Tomorrow is makar sankranti and known as pongal in tn and also kichari in ni.marks transition of sun into zodiac capricorn symbolising of arrival of spring, starting of uttrahan known as starting of days time for devtas and starting of maha kumbh at allahbad.please accept my good wishes and save bathing at allahbad.

Thanks. I have bathed at Sangam once in biting cold of December, after reaching the platform at the confluence proper, in a boat. The waters of Ganga were brownish where as the waters of Yamuna were bluish. A straight line where they meet was also visible.

Do you know, according to the Puranas, on this day Surya(Sun) visits the house of his son Shani(Saturn), who is the lord of the Makar rashi(Zodiac Capricorn). Though the father and son duo did not get along well, the Surya made it a point to meet his son on this day. He, in fact, comes to his sons house, for a month. This day thus symbolizes the importance of the special relationship between father and son.
