The Indian Premier League (IPL) is recognised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the cricket boards of the other Test-playing nations. On the other hand, the Indian Cricket League (ICL) is a rebel cricket league backed by the Essel Group and is not recognised by the BCCI, the ICC or any of the other cricket boards. The IPL has a number of current Indian and international stars who have been bought in an auction, whereas the ICL has a number of former cricketers and domestic Indian cricketers. The only similarity between the two is that both the leagues have eight participating teams, each representing an Indian city.

IPL, the more glamorous avatar of cricket has been initiated by BCCI and is recognized by the ICC. The ICL or the Indian Cricket League has been started by the Zee Group and is not recognized by the ICC and other major cricket body. Also IPL has more star power compared to ICL. Though ICL has names like Inzamul-Haq, Brian Lara, Chris Cairns, it is no match for IPL. But in any case, both IPL and ICL offer a lot of growth prospects, money for players and entertainment for fans.

ICL is promoted by Subash Chandra of ZEE TV & Kapil Dev whereas
IPL is promoted by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the cricket boards of the other Test-playing nations.

one is can do anything and the other is fit for nothing .but i dont know

ipl buys player officially and icl is unofficial
