It is the New Year celebrations of the Bhutia community in Sikkim. It falls on the 18th day of the 10th month of the Tibetan lunar calendar (December), when the harvest season is over. A 15-day celebration is held all over Sikkim and the traditional Cham dance is performed with dancers dressed up as deities.
