Q.

There are so many Narendra Modi Fans who are all praise for his Developmental work. My Question to them, was Gujarat a backward state till 7 th October 2001 when Modi became Chief Minister? How come he is pioneer of Modern Gujarat?

You are right. Modi inherited by a far a developed state unlike Nitish Kumar in Bihar or Mayawai in U.P. and Mamata in West Bengal.

The main oppn Congress has praised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in an advertisement in this election year. A pull-out by Congress, distributed with newspapers on the Republic Day in some parts of the state, features Modi''s photograph, and describes him as "a organiser and astute election strategist".

I have been in Gujarat for over 25 years now. I have seen what earlier CMs have done, or failed to do. Narendra Modi gave a new and inspiring direction to the development story. He has been above corruption. He may be accused by a vicious Press and electronic media of being communal and what not, by no charge of corruption or favouritism or nepotism has ever been levelled against him so far. He is a disciplined soldier, and knows how to go about develolpment.

The advertisement distributed by Congress to news papers on 26th January seeks to stem the false propaganda by BJP that ONLY N.Modi is the architect of an otherwise deliapidated and decrepit state. This Ad speaks about developmental works carried out under other Chief Ministers too, including the first Chief Minister, Dr Jivraj Mehta, Chimanbhai Patel, Madhavsinh Solanki, Shankarsinh Vaghela, Keshubhai Patel and Suresh Mehta. The last two were BJP Chief Ministers.
"What we are trying to convey through this advertisement is that Gujarat's progress is not due to one person. Gujarat was a progressive state from its inception and all the Chief Ministers have given their best to the state," Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi said.
So, Modi is basking in the glory that is the handiwork of other CMs before him. (and including him).
