Have a Question? Ask

There are plenty of intelligent people who believe that their religion is the true faith. If you are one of those people, please enlighten the collective about what prompted that conclusion. Id like to at least get an idea of why those people think that. Where did your religion or spiritual beliefs originate from? How did you get involved in your religion or spiritual beliefs?

If you have true faith and belief in God or Ishwar then only your faith is true otherwise it is false. What is the use of holding prayer beads if your mind is on revenge and destruction of others? What is the use of proclaiming that your religion is the only true pure faith if your heart is full of hatred for people who do not belong to your faith? All religions lead to God, but the point is the followers of the path must stick to their path and not tread on others' paths.

For me religion is a way of life and great religions or surviving religions are the ones which teach us love . And hence all great religions like Hinduism,Islam and Christianity are great in their own way. Whenever there is a scar to a religion it is not in the religion but by the followers only. And most of the religion came from another source because of the difference of opinion. From Jews came Christianity and Islam. Sikh,Buddhism and Jainism from Hinduism and so on.And as far as I am concerned religions are getting diluted with the passage of time and will be in the books only in the future.

Real intelligent people never dispute on others faith. This is the business of a few who do not understand the real essence.Sri Ramkrishna, the greatest monk told "JATO MAT TATO PATH " It means there may be many ways of many
faiths but the goal is same.So real scholars do not shout about. It is the faith and devotion to your own religion that will take you to your goal.

For any belief in you is nurtured by your parents gradually from childhood, nevertheless you find it very difficult to inculcate it at a later stage and age...no matter it's a religion or spirituality...!

Dear Madam
Great Question Indeed
The answer can be given in a few lines, but takes books to explain. The short answer is this: There is a God. He is fair and just, and He wants us to achieve the reward of paradise. However, God has placed us in this worldly life as a test, to weed out the worthy from the unworthy. And we will be lost if left to our own devices. Why? Because we don't know what He wants from us. We can't navigate the twists and turns of this life without His guidance, and hence, He has given us guidance in the form of revelation.

Sure, previous religions have been corrupted, and that is why we have a chain of revelation. Ask yourself: why would God send another revelation if the preceding scriptures were still pure? Only if preceding scriptures were corrupted would God need to send another revelation, to keep mankind on the straight path of His design.

So we should expect preceding scriptures to be corrupted, and we should expect the final revelation to be pure ...more

I think i have an identity only because i follow the 'sanatana dharma" ie what we call as Hinduism. I am proud to be called like this, i feel superior bercause on one has created Hinduism, and this was evolved over a period of time and this mis the only religion which does not go against the mother nature

I always have this feelings that its' the God who decides everything for us...it was His decision that I was born in a particular faith...so I am nobody to decide or alter His verdict.I also believe...basically all religions are the same and attempts to lead the people to a true path.I donot know why people have this superiority complex that their religion is the best and try to convert or win others to their faith. My parents were God fearing and very religious too. They did not practice castesim and not at all very retualistic. There were 1000s of books in our home as I belong to family of Teachers...which I used to read,n,still read to learn about Hinduism.I have a little understanding of Jainism,Islam,Sikhism and christiniaty as well. What I donot like is the regidity in practice of faiths. Here, Hindu scores over others as we enjoy lot of freedom...there are no set rules, no single book to adhere, or particular dress or code to practice or a Head of the faith to decide about any thin ...more

I am not that intelligent to claim that my religion is the true faith. My religion, is for those who believe, in true human values. And so are all those religions since ancient times, whose message is Humanity and Goodwill to all men.
I feel that we all should embrace this concept and live in harmony with each other. Let my neighbour follow what he believes in truely, and give him the respect, that is due to him.

The ultimate reason, why I have found that my traditional Indain faith is true, is that I have personally witnessed and experienced its truth, power and beauty. But this does not mean that other faiths are not true. They originate from the truth of my existance. In the begining I got involved due to the guidance of my elders but later because of the truth which I experienced in it
