Modi enjoys the support of wide sections of the society. He is not depending only on Hindutva forces. He is liked by all those who see in him a strong leader, who will deliver. Unlike Rahul Gandhi, Modi`s record has been very good.

The BJP has already started their election strategy rolling. The day Modi was addressing the young students on his so called vision of development by presenting the Gujarat Model, on that very same day Rajnath Singh was talking of building temple at Ayodhaya alongwith VHP members. It appears that BJP is trying to adopt a dual strategy - one to appeal to the educated urban middle class and younsters on development plank and at the same time by harping on Ram temple they dont want to lose the conservative Hindu votes also. Whether this strategy may bring them gains or boomerang on them cannot be said at this early stage. It all depends on how they carry the campaign forward. If too much emphasis is given to Hindutava by sidelining the development plank, then BJP can actually end up losing votes because majority feel that it is no longer an issue and may give rise to communal tensions
