No. It is GROSSLY inequality laden. And not really objective. Education here is treated more like a business on all levels, more so than a place of relevant learning. There are rare gems like Bal Bharati, which are indeed credible and REAL institutions of learning but by & large the system is lacking.

In Municipal schools, teachers sometimes make students do their household chores. And even school management STEALS out of NOON MEAL RATIONS. And in elitist schools, like the "International Schools"- you get a central A/C classroom, kushy campus, but you are virtually shut from the place your are living in.

And schools of today, in India rely HEAVILY on marketing & brand promotion, just like a watch or a car. So too much is spent on the decor, the brochures, the marketing...and nearly not enough in its core- the students.

And some schools blatantly disrespect our national heritage by issuing FINES and DISCIPLINARY PENALTIES on children SPEAKING THEIR MOTHER TONGUE. This is ju ...more
