What were the reasons behind congress' success in the LS elections?

1.
Reasons behind so called success of Congress Party are many.
1. There is not much increase in vote share of Congress party. It has increased by 2 to 3 percent and that is possible because Congress party had decided to contest election alone in UP under compelling circumstances.
2. Due to division of votes between Shiv Sena and MNS of Raj Thakre in the state of Maharashtra, Congress party could win in more than 10 additional constituencies.
3. Due to sudden breaking of relation between BJP and BJD in Orissa, Congress party could win considerably more seats.
4. In Andhra Pradesh, Congress could win due to split of Non Congress votes between TDP and newly formed party of Prajapati.
5. There was sharp and multi cornered contest in UP and there was anti incumbency factor against Mayawati. Secondly Mulayam and Amar lost their image due to in fighting with Azmi on Jaya Prada Issue.
