Q.

The attitude of some Muslim organizations finding fault with Muslims singing 'Vande Matharam' (Salutation to Mother) appears to me more ridiculous than other religious people refusing to read India's National Newspaper 'The Hindu' because of its name. What we earn by making our mother Bharatha Matha cry for our foolishness and ignorance?

There are fanatics and lunatics in all religions and for that religion does not become bad. What you call Raj Thakre who targets poor, unarmed Biharis but sits snugly under tight security when terrorists strike. A well published writer endorses Thackeray\'s dastardly action but shuts up when Mumbai is blown apart.? He , who humiliate for taking oath in Hindi , our national language ?? Reading Hindu does not make us Hindu till we practise real Hinduism as preached by great people like Swami Vivekananda. Evil persons are like a dirty window, they never let the light shine through. But again , as Mahatma Gandhi says \" You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty

I would like to correct the question by highlighting it is not organizations but one organization only. The first two stanzas of the song have no religious bias. But later on when it was incorporated by Bankim Chandra in his novel called Anandamath, he extended the poem and the extended portion had a lot of religious bias. Mind you Bankim himself had anti Muslim bias and that is vividly visible in the novel. A move was made by Congress party to make it a national song much before independence and that came for criticism by many eminent persons including Tagore, who said, how one expects Muslims and Christians to sing the song. Then a committee was formed of three people. Nehru and Abul Kalam were the members I forget the name of the third person. The committee recommended that the first two stanzas should be sung instead of the full song and that recommendation was accepted. Since the song became controversial from the very beginning, during independence it was decided that Jana Gana ...more

It is a clarion call to those so called fanatic upholders of MUSLIM COMMUNITY to come to the state of ORISSA and see how the PPL of both HINDU & MUSLIM community are co-habitating all over the state. In the 1000 year old city of KATAK (Cuttack) Near to 4-5 Muslims are the General Secretary of the DURGA PUJA Committee supervising the peaceful celebratiuon of DURGA PUJA.The Peer Durgah of KHURDHA DIstrict is crowded during the feastival of ID by HINDU Dsvotee to seek ASHIRWAAD from PEER BAWA for their children. The famous fair during HOLI looks incomplete without the acrobatic show of the MUSLIM devotees at BARI (JAJPUR DISTRICT).There has never occurred a HINDU-MUSLIM riot in ORISSA when the other parts of INDIA was in Shambles during the partition of undevided INDIA in 1947.We challenge them to show what is real peace among the communities sharing each other\'s pains and pleasures here in ORISSA(BCZ there is no threat of conversion of religion). But the situation in KANDHAMAL has ...more
