The majority of the population in Xinjiang are the Uighurs who are predominantly Muslims whereas the Chinese are belong to the Han tribes. The problem in Xinjiang has not come up overnight. It is there for many many years. These people in the Xinjian have enjoyed freedom for some years in between but the Chinese supressed them and China has been diverting the Hans to settle in Xinjian so much so that the Han population has reached very high levels in Xinjian.
There is no comparison between Kashmir of India and Xinjian of China. The Kashmiris are living in a democracy, they vote for the party they want to rule in Kashmir but the Uighurs in Xinjiang has no such rights. China is not a democratic country and does not allow people to chose their rulers like in India.
The Chinese have sent maximum troops in that province and they will suppress the Uighurs at any cost.

AUM. Xinjiang is not at all turning out to be Kashmir of China..The two situations are different. We Indians have been very liberaland soft in dealing with the separatist elements in Kashmir. If a terrorist is hiding in a mosque in Kashmir, we let him be there and even Biryani is served to him. How can terrorism be controlled in Kashmir under those circumstances?
China is very firm in dealing with terror. President Hu Chintao has already issued a stern warning to the separatists and terrorists. Mass arressts of Uighur Muslims suggests that no kid glove treatment will be given to them. Terrorists are terrorists and must be dealt with accordingly.
In my opinion China will succeed in quelling the uprising of Uighur Muslims.

There is no comparision between our Kashmir and Xinjiang of China. Hence therefore, the question is absurd. India is a democratic and secular country. All citizens including Kashmiris have fundamental rights including Right to franchise. We have provisions in our constitution which even gives special status to Kashmir. Kashmiris can observe and preserve their religion, language, culture and customs. Even Indian citizens who are not Kashmiris are not allowed to settle there so we have not changed the demography of the Kashmir region. As against this, demography of Xinjiang has changed enormously. Culture and customs and religion and language of Uighur Muslims is allegedly under danger under chinese rule. The purpose of their protest is different. Xinjiang can at best be equated with Tibet.

China has been supporting and arming rogue Pakis all these years. Now it seems they are inciting the muslims in China. Let China wake up and realise the dnager of muslim extremism spreading across the globe.

No! Chinese will never let it happen that way. One can see the tough action taken by the authorities in wake of the riot which is conspicuously different from an Indian affair.

The comparison between Xinjiang & Kashmir appears to be rootless tree in fool\'s paradise. For Example China has diverted the Hans to settle in Xinjian so much so that the Han population has reached very high levels in Xinjian, but in india no one from outside of J&K has the right to stay there even today, after the independance of 63 years.
in kashmir problem is not public anger but the basic problem is state sponcered terrorism. but in Xinjiang problem is supression and denial of fundamental right by state.
