Releasing some one from prison on bail is not directly going to help in proving his innocence. It is just that the Law Enforcing agencies have completed their investigations and have filed the charge sheet and trial is pending to commence. It might take a lot of time.

During the pendency of the Trial, the competent court may take a view and release an accused on bail considering so many factors and imposing appropriate conditions. Mr. Kalmadi also has got out in this process.

When he is on bail, he can interact with his defence team more freely and strategise his defence during the trial.

Kalamadi remained in jail for 9 months because CBI pleaded the court not to grant him the bail. We all know CBI is the puppet of Central Government. Central Government is headed by Manmohan Singh. Manmohan Singh is headed by Sonia Gandhi. So Kalamadi remained in jail for 9 months because of Sonia Gandhi, it is an established fact. Sonia Gandhi was forced to do so due to the agitations by the civil society . Had the anti corruption movement not carried out awareness and focus against corruption, probably Kalamadi would have been out of jail long-long ago.

The allegation against him is that he conspird to award a contract to a Swiss firm to install a Timing-scoring-Result system at a very bloated rate, thereby incurring a loss of Rs.90 crore. The CBI had seized all the documets pertaining o the award of the contract. Unlike other criminal cases where the accused may try to influence the witnesses to turn the trial of the case in favour of the accused, the charge sheet here will be framed on documentary evidences. This is a very glaring difference between ordinary criminal acts and flouting all accepted norms to misapropriate games funds.
The inordinate delay in the commencement of the trial, and granting bail to the accused in the 2G scam by the Hom Supreme Court, paved the way for getting bail to Kalmadi. So, I dont think that getting a bail is any any indication of getting out of the scam scot free. Everything depends on how effective and fool proof the CBI charge sheet is.
