They should but the inherent dilemma is that the current spade of communalisation of academic books has poisoned the young minds and filled in wrong notions about this great ruler..who was not only piuos but also a just and noble person...Alexander Hamilton, a British historian, toured India towards the end of Aurangzeb's fifty year reign and observed that every one was free to serve and worship God in his own way..Even Aurangzeb's dislike of non-Muslims has become the subject of scrutiny. Historian Shri Sharma states that while Emperor Akbar had fourteen Hindu Mansabdars (high officials) in his court, Aurangzeb actually had 148 Hindu high officials in his court."But this fact is somewhat less known, and all the more hidden and purposefully concealed in books ranging from general magazines to national curricula..and the proof is that God gave him a reign of 50 long years over India, longest so far in the history and his reign was from Kandahar to Burma and deccan in south again largest ...more

I agree he led a simple life & tahts commendable. But Aurangzeb was one of the most cruel ruler & hardcore bigot. He made the life of other religionists hell & partial towards muslims especially Sunni muslims. So he is not the worth person to emulate.

Aurangzeb imposed Zezia on the Hindus and killed those, who fought for Hindus including sons of Guru Govind Singh. You mean to say - we should follow that kind of a creep? And he did not perform any obligation on Hindus by giving them High posts. If there were few Hindus, they were there probably as window-dressing only. Sh.it

If you are refering only to High Posts to non-muslims...then plz be noted that APJ Abdul Kalam was one of our President...even Indian People loved him for his nobel work !! Never Blame that Muslims were never given chance to proove themselves if they have capability in any area !! You can always see in the field of Entertainment whether it is Films or Cricket...Muslims telents were never denied in India..and Hindu loved Sharukh, Salman, Azharuddin etc and even Mohd.Rafi & Dilip kumar forever !! If people are telented in any field they are always graced by Hindu people (Read as Indian) !! : )) Why you are giving example of Aurangzeb who has killed his brothers & imprisioned his Father (which is never accepted by any Hindu people or Indian Culture.. (Religion is not only to repeatation of Holy Books but to live life accordingly...I think Brotherhood is the one of the Piller in Islam..we have live life religiously as shown by Paigambars...!!) You could give example of Great Akbar & his ni ...more

Such persons never get due credit for what they did, You will always hear about the Shivaji being given undue importance. Only few are aware about the true history that u mentimed above. He was a man with the mission. He never enforced anything but yes he was pious , religious and a simple ruler. I agree with your views.
