You can probably get one for around 3000 - check the classified ads you may find a nearly new second hand one. I recommend an electronic one rather than a manual, they are not so heavy to use.

Good question. One needs a typewriter when current fails. Keep one. You may not get a brand new one as they are being phased out but you can definitely get second hand ones may be around Rs. 1000/- or even less.

The typewriter, has become obsolete and is being phased out from the Govt Depts too, The computer and the word processing software, sounded the death bell of typewiter, I think the former typewriter manufacturers like Godrej, Halda etc have already stopped production of a gadget, which has no takers, To move with the times, it is better you study computer and word processing and see irs amazing possibilities which a manual/electric typewriter can never offer, Still, if yoy are very particular to buy a typewriter, please check the classified advertisements of your local daily, You can comr across good quality typewriters, at very cheap rates, say RS,2000/ In my state, a top quality foreign make electric typewriter like Olivetti, Brother etc will hardly fetch Rs,1500/ So , it is better to reconsider your plans of buying an obsolete gadget,

I do not see much use of a typewriter these days when you can buy a computer at a reasonable price. The computer is also more user friedly and perhaps it may be difficult to get a new typewriter these days.
