Sttess in simple words means tension. Now tension is an inevitable part of everyone's life, but when a person becomes too tense the emotional overbearance starts taking its toll both physically as well as mentally. They say that stress has increased a lot in today's life and its true also because we do multiple things in a day and yet we feel that time is not sufficient. Right from childhood pressure of studies to do well because of competition, peer pressure, comparisions with better students, pressure and tension of exams, admission to higher and specialized institutes, entrance tests for professional courses, then difficulties and hard work to complete these professional courses. After that search for jobs, job pressures, to find a suitable girl and have a family, kids and then tension for kids education. When there is intolerable gap between target ( or the expectation) and the result, pressure is built up and causes stress.

Adjust your priorities, and do the most difficult ones first,
but do them one at a time, so you don't get "over-whelmed."
