There are reports of more and more new gas findings in the KG basin? Will India become self sufficient in gas at some point of time?

India has a huge appetite for energy and gas seems to be one of the key elements in its quest for energy security. It is indeed good to learn about the vast potential of the KG basin. However given that India is still growing it is difficult to conclude if the gas reserves in the KG basin are indeed vast enough for our energy security and self sufficiency.

Demand for gas in going up tremendously in India. I do not think the gas findings in KG basin alone will sustain us. Of course these gas findings will significantly reduce Indias gas imports.
