Some European country running on battery operated vehicles called electric car or bus, when we are going to adopt this technology in our country?

We do have REVA cars by M&M Ltd & they plan to have electric scooters too.

Battery operated cars are already being manufactured in india and are in use. scooters are also there already
but not so popular as of now
