Chefs are a hot commodity these days. There is no shortage of opportunities in five-star hotels, gourmet restaurants, etc. If you have the personality and the drive, you can be a celebrity chef like Sanjeev Kapoor! But remember that it can be a slow climb to the top; you can spend years slaving away in kitchens before you reach the top. But the effort is certainly worthwhile, especially if you enjoy food.

There are many institutes that offer courses for chefs. Among them are the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology and the Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development in New Delhi, Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal, Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition in Mumbai etc.

With a booming economy and travel both for leasure and pleasure on the rise there are no dearth of opportunties for you. A very challening and rewarding career option indeed with very good prospects both in India and overseas. Go for it. Check with the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology for a list of all affiliated colleges and courses in the same. www.nchmct.org
