The speed record for the fastest conventional train was set on 3rd April 2007 when a shortened French TGV train, number 4402, ran at 574.8 km/h (357.18 mph).

Apart from test runs, Manglev train in France reached highest speed of 347 mph during operation in 2007. Higher speeds are available but the trains were made to achieve that, either by reducing no of coaches or by making body lighter

In India its Rajdhani Express which has a top speed of about 180 Kmph and in the world it is Shanghai's new maglev with a top speed of 574.8 kmph.

The fastest passenger train on earth operating today is shangai maglev which same operates in germany top speed is 502km/hr.
in japan the same train but diffrent model has broken speed record of 582km/hr
but only in test drive and does not work regulary.
the common fastest train working is shangai and german maglev.
