Personally I feel all elections especially the general elections for electing a govt at the centre and the assembly elections of all the 25 states should be held on the same date, so that all the five years after being elected the govt. should govern and not play vote bank politics as one or the other state is going for election. As far as conducting elections during Diwali is concerned, I think, though I am not sure that generally elections are not held during Diwali time. As for the summer vacations it is too long a period for the govt. to delay elections especially taking into consideration that it is immediately followed by the rainy season during which conducting elections may prove even more difficult.
