Q.

Hinduism and Buddhism are the two great religions that took birth in India. Both the religions spread out to other countries. Excepting the island of Bali in Indonesia, Hinduism has not survived anywhere outside India. But almost whole of South East and Far East (right up to Japan & Mongolia) Buddhism has spread out. It is the biggest religion of Asia. Any idea as to why Buddhism succeeded and Hinduism could not?

Hinduism is the most ancient religion in this universe. It was spread all over the world. It has always been a very broad minded.., logical and rational society and always allowed criticism , refusal , rejection , disbelief and negativism even, because of its very tolerant and sublime inherent qualities. Most of the modern religious offshoots are from hinduism..just as from a large joint family.. some members become radical and form their own separate family.
Buddhism originated from india but could not survive here because of the strong hold o hinduism in its parent country..but it flourished in other parts because of its then supposedly more appealing applicability elsewhere where imprints of hindu signature were not so stronh enough.
Being a very tolerant in its nature..are you not aware that Buddha still continues to be one among the Dashavtars of Vishnu..as hindus only considered buddhism as its ally only and not its rival.
Moreso.. Hinduism has never believed in conversions an ...more
