if you bought a share at higher price, then it market price comes down and there is a speculation that it will go mup, at that time u have buy the same stock in the lower price so that ur average price may bring down ur losses incureed and may bring profit.. for example if u bought dlf 50 share @ 640, now it is coming down to 480, now u can buy 50 shares of dlf @ 480 so that ur average price will be560,, by this ur exit point from dlf will be earliest and if it touches previous bought lelev, ur profit shoots up.. this average in stock market
