Sarabjit Singh fought a lonely battle for justice amidst isolation and threats, while his family ran from pillar to post to bring him back to his motherland. The inaction of the Government of India is particularly very annoying. The entire thing has been handled very shoddily. Comments pls.

Agree, it's high time, Islamabad and New Delhi need to learn lessons from Sarabjit Singh's tragic saga and accord importance to release prisoners languishing in either country for several decades, especially those innocents who form the bulk of the bilateral prisoners should be released without delay. . This challenging issue needed greater attention and cooperation of both sides. In February 2008, an India-- Pakistan Judicial Committee on prisoners was set up to make recommendations to the two governments, which included consular access to prisoners and exchange of consolidated list of nationals in each other jails. It was an attempt to focus on the need for proper verifications of nationalities of the prisoners by the home / interior ministries of the two countries to pave the way for drawing of a plan for the prisoners release.
