In fact, people in the villages should continue using the bullock carts. Centain parts of cities should be restricted only to bicycles. My friend was in China for higher studies under exchange programme. He told me that certain areas, specially around universities, only bicycles are allowed. Professors, staff and students use bicycles! This should be implemented in India also. I had been to Rameswaram. I had to hire a cycle rickshaw from quite far to the temple area. More areas should be made petrol.diesel vehicles free zones.
Samajwadi Party is doing well in this case! Excellent show to protest on rising petrol/diesel prices.

Wait for BJP to join the competition with their Ram's Rath, RJD with hand pulled Rickshaws and unlit lantern, BSP with elephants, Telegu Desham in their Cycle...
