Keralites are less tolerant compared to other states of India as far as religion is concerned. When I was very young, around 9 I have witnessed a bloody fight between Syrian and Roman Catholics at Aluva in Kerala. when some 9 persons were killed. Same has happened between other religions also. This is the state where the literacy rate is the highest along with attachment to their religion and caste. And it is the only State where religion and caste based political parties have a greater say in election. all such things are uncalled for and not necessary.

This shows, people use religion as a mask for giving themselves some cosmetic effect so that they can earn brownie points from like minded barbarians in the society. If the so called influential Catholic church really believed in the teaching of Christ they won't be braying eye for eye, tooth for tooth or blood for blood. If they are true Catholic they would be following Christ preaching of taking care of people and not resort to killing. This is true to all religion. Whether it is Hindu, Islam or any other religion or sect a majority of the members who get deeply involved in their religion loose their balance and behave like Drunkards. Religion like wine in moderation is good and healthy. When in excess it ruins the society.
