Yes, He is an 'angel' in that respect. The world is a different place to live after the cold war. His contributions for this are immense.

Well i have answered the previous one now & i would say he was a man for peace without doubt but in that process brought about the collapse of USSR!!

No .they were almost finished and divided into 19 countries due to their occupation of Afghanistan , they had no alternative then

Did he repent or asked Russians to repent and apologize to Afghan people for invading Afghanistan and destroying it and destroying itself in the process ??

Cold war ended because USA increased the stakes so high that USSR could not afford to bear its cost. They had no other choice but to end the cold war. Since Mikhail Gorbachev happened to be occupying the top chair in Kremlin, he got the credit for it. Moreover, being a seasoned politician, he made it look like a great initiative taken by him.
It is like MMN getting credit for ushering in FDI initiatives which would flood our county with capital for improving the infrastructure of the country. Whereas the fact is that he has no other choice in order to avoid bankruptcy of the national exchequer.

Even Bush is considered as angel of peace , that's why 52 nations backing he invaded Afghanistan and Iraq and ultimately destroyed them

Mikhail Gorbachev succeeded Leonid Breznev while the then USSR & USA were at Daggers drawn.....Starwar project of USA was at itz pinnacle.... Yet USSR was at the upper hand so far as nuclear tipped ballistic missiles and possession of Atom Bomb was concerned....but in fact USSR was reeling under most economic crisis ..... And Mikhail Gorbachev realised this fact ..... to his utter disappointment the Chernobyl episode occurred in December 1984 ... which raised the European frowning at him....And a Moderate Bush succeeded a hard core Reagan as president of United states .... who acknowledged the useless impact of the cold war on the economy on both the nations....and finally both came to the table to end the cold war at Geneva in 1989....by that time Gorbachev has already launched GLASNOST & PERESTROIKA in USSR.....taking the advantage of which small states under the USSR confederation declared themselves independent .... thatz why Gorbachev was not popular in Russia....But surely he ser ...more
