Q.

Seeing the recent rampant violent or semi violent attacks in our society as well as legislative assemblies, dont you think that we have reached nowhere in terms of mental advancement?
Is India the same land of spiritualism, land of Gandhi and Vivekananda?

There is a partial truth in the statement........ I think mental advancement more or less is a continuous process and we've achieved something worthwhile.Utilizing that advancement for something better is another issue. That outburst has really a very strong connection with moral and spiritual vacuum but there are some other factors too which can be discussed in detail. As for our legislators, I guess they love to show their upbringing and where they belong to..... It's not only a matter of mental up gradation.Spirituality and morality are personal issues and suits to a person only! When they start a community exercise of teaching, it looks ugly. They just lack understanding!! What I or you can do then? Just play our part and don't avoid anything which you don't like.Raise your voice alone and if necessary take help of others too.Too many people are fr ...more

Whole world has "PROGRESSED" over the years to a state where "Intolerance" and "Selfishness" have overtaken all other feelings at the Human to Human level. India is not an exception. So we have more and more violence and violence of any kind can breed only more violence. As long as negative feelings like Envy, Anger, Selfishness, Intolerance, Arrogance and Hatred exist in Human Beings... Violence is inevitable.
