Q.

Recently, Lata Mangeshkar said in an interview to Subhash K Jha that Mohammad Rafi apologised to her and wrote a letter of apology. This never happened. Even his son, Shahid Rafi, pooh-poohed Lata's outlandish claims. It's a well-known fact that Lata and Rafi parted ways over royalty in the sixties. All the insecure male-female singers, barring Rafi, wanted to get a cut from the producer, director etc. Lata was too vocal on this count. Despite Lata's indubitable greatness, there's no gainsaying the fact that she has always been very scheming, manipulative and morbidly vindictive?

.....talking bad about a dead person who can not defend himself is just a blow below belt....i'm sure she lost millions of her own fans because of her recent derogatory remarks against Rafi sahab.....Rafi sahab's personality, individuality, greatness, talents, success, humane attitude, generosity, charity etc is known to all...ask any music director, composer, actors, senior citizens, even tea boy in recording studio, of those times, u will find a glimpse of his highly respected qualities....lata has tried to tarnished the character of a far superior artist and human being......SHAME on her.

True, Lata is a great singer but not a great human being. For Rafi saab, no dividing line between his songs and his personality.....both are just DIVINE....

..if i write a letter of apology, and the reader reads and destroys it, my son, or anyone else is not likely to know about it.

(this in no way presumes what may have happened between Lataji and Rafisahebji, but what does it matter, we are too small to be concerned or discussing with matters of two giant legends).
