Marad is a coadtal village in the Calicut district of kerala . The Marad carnage under reference relates to the massacre of eight fishermen at Marad on May 2,2003. The Special Court set up for the trial awarded rigorous life imprisonment to 62 of the accused who were found guilty under section 302[murder],section153A[promoting enmity between different groupso on grounds of religion, race etc] of the IPC. In the Marad case , all the accused belonged to the Muslim community and the victims were all sea faring hindus. This was a retaliation to the murder of muslims by the hindus . Then, Cannanore dist is notorious for the frequent violent clashes between the CPI[M] and the RSS. Barring for the overdlose of politics, the people of Cannanore[Kannur] dist, are all very good, hospitable and sincere to the core. But, the moment partisan politics crop up, these friendly and sincere people go for the jugular of their political opponents. this is the curse of Cannanore
