Ravi Uppal Whole Time Director of L &T joins Vedanta group---news. Are you surprised considering that he is moving from a highly respected professionally managed company to a company whose public image right now is not all that good? Your views?

Probably Uppal was anticipating that , S.N. Subrahmanyan who is young by L&T standards, would be a serious contender for the top post in 2015 when Venkataramanan retire...........also the business environment in the power business was such that his division just did not make the impact on the balance-sheet as was expected of him............Another issue was that he was an outsider in the companys hierarchy unlike others who had quite a few decades of service in L&T.....but I thought he will join a better professional company .........Cairn India was one of the speculation ......... anyway , I think position was more important for him

Yes.The move is rather surprising.But I suppose he might have got a very big jump in position and package and promise of future growth, to lure him.
