'GIVING PLEDGE" is an inititive founded last month to encourage America's richest families to commit money to society's most pressing problems. The world of philanthropy has got a big financial boost, when more and more super rich Americans, are pledging more than the minimum of the 50% of their wealth.
Mr.Buffette has handed over the his committment to the Bill and Melinda Foundation, which is largely orientated towards tackling diseases in developing nations.Thge pledge doesnot define any specific causes that the billionaires will target with their fortunes and it doesnot involve all the individuals pooling their money. Instead it will be left upto each individual to dwtermine whixch endeavours they wish to fund. The Hollywood director, George Lucas has said his chosen cause will be education.
