KABULIWALA, a film based on Tagore's story & directed by Hemen Gupta, was released in 1961. It is a touching story about an Afghan Pathan and a little girl Mini. What was so special about this film that people still love this film and it's song aye mere pyare watan?
The story was very nice and the film was very beautifully produced by a genious Bimal Roy and directed by hemen Gupta.Balraj Sahni's superb acting as the Kabuliwala and longing for his motherland , really touched the hearts of all.His love and rememberance for his country ,which is conveyed as pain in the heart ( Kabhi nanhi si beti ban ke yaad aata hai tu) is really touching. The words by Prem Dhawan and music by Salil Choudhry and Manna dey's rendering makes the song emebedded in the heart of listeners forever.

I read it and again and again many times, its really touching when kabuliwala wants to see the bride and remembers his small daughter, as he takes out scrambled peice of paper and sees the finger prints of his daughter far back in his home town. . i did not see the film and i dont know about the song. i read only the script. another nice story in bengali is meghe dhaka taara. dont know if sir tagore wrote it.
