Q.

It is clear that BJP has not been able to exploit the peoples' sentiments on recent terror strikes. People rejected politicization of terror which is a serious issue. Should the BJP introspect and come out with development issues instead ?

The way congress handled the terrorists issue by mobilising international opinion against pakistan was well received by the people, besides congress talked of development which is more important for our people than terrorism.

The BJP just needs to be honest w/ themselves.

During the election campaign of the BJP, which made Vajpayee as PM., I genuinely believed in them as the agent of change & progress in India, given their manifesto. Their mainfesto read tough on terrorism & the emphasis on SWADES. They failed MISERABLY on both those fronts, even worst than Congress....which is what made me very dejected w/ them (and not the fact they have ppl like LK Advani etc).

On TERRORISM front, I saw how meek the BJP was when they faced Air India hijacking. They allowed the aircraft to take off to Taliban HQ (Khandahar) and also released some of India's most dangerous criminals including LeT founder Masood Azhar, who masterminded Mumbai terrorist attacks. And worst of all, they come forth w/ POTA...AFTER releasing ppl like Masood Azhar, and accuse Congress of being soft on terror.

Then there's Swades. I was hoping the BJP would remain true to this front at least but boy was I wrong. The BJP manif ...more

BJP itself was soft on the terror issue. It therefore cannot at any time exploit this issue to its advantage. In Delhi assembly elections the visibility of BJP leaders was very poor. Its compaign was listless. On the other hand, Mrs Shiela Dixit during the last one year, was coming on Radio, talking about issues concerning girl child, houses for the poor, new plans, taking pride for the METRO etc. This systmatic compaign against no dialogue with the electorate from BJP systematically tilted the votes in favour of Congress in Delhi. You have to match and do better than your opponent.
