Possessiveness is quite natural in any meaningful and close relationship....as a result of feeling protective towards each other...as a result of a wee bit of jealousy if any other invades into this undivided attentional space and this is not negative at all .
It becomes deterrement only when this starts stifling the space of the other partner. All perwons need their own space and this must be respected but unless one becomes overtly possessive this space is free and understandable and never suffocates the feeling towards each other..

Possessive people are normally strong-willed people and expect others to conform to their values and wishes. They are typically self-pitying, easily offended and find it hard to give without expecting anything in return. Possessive people are often very talkative, opinionated and argumentative. Becoming possessive can turn a once happy, loving relationship into a relationship based on fear, jealousy and control. Possessiveness stems from feelings of insecurity in a relationship, where the possessive person doubts the love and dedication of another person and as a result, becomes jealous and controlling...!

Possessiveness is ok up to a certain limit to show that you truly care but beyond that it become obnoxiously suffocating for the other by attempting to keep that person in a cocoon and depriving that person of his or her individual freedom or choices, cutting off that vital lung space we all need for ourselves to fee comfortable in this world. And then of course, there is no need to dwell on the depredations such obsessive possessiveness can bring on to their existence, wiping out any chance of a sense of happiness and contentment.

A certain bit of possessiveness is important in all relationships. It acts as a tool to convey the feeling to the person it is directed that he/she is too important to be lost to someone. At times this helps in standing up against others who sometimes do not act in the interest of the person.

Never ...............Unnecessary possessions are unnecessary burdens. If you have them, you have to take care of them! There is great freedom in simplicity of living. It is those who have enough but not too much, who are the happiest. God gives us everything we need , not everything we want .Possessions are usually diminished by possession. You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give
