PM taking up FM portfolio will be a huge load, and may not be able to make justice, unless it is only for a short period. The Congress party knows it pretty well, when to open the cards related to this action.
With the elections within span of 1-2 years, they may really wish to get some good poster boy for this position with clean slate in order to make corporates happy during dull economic climate.

Definitely not Rahul Gandhi, as the post does not offer necessary glamour from aam-janataa point of view.
