The symptoms of a urinary tract infection, or UTI, are often painful and annoying, making the person feel irritable and desperate for relief. A urinary tract infection generally occurs in the bladder, with more severe infections traveling straight up to the kidneys. It really is a medical condition that a person does not want to play around with or allow to progress, because it could turn into a chronic recurring condition or cause serious complications. Treating a urinary tract infection will be most effective when treatment is initiated soon after symptoms appear.

Drink plenty of fluids. Begin as soon as you feel the first signs and symptoms. Drink up to several gallons in the first 24 hours after the onset of symptoms. Doing this can actually flush the bacteria out and wash it away.

Choose water as your primary fluid.
