Visva-Bharati University is the only university of India, which is related with two Nobel prize winner.Gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore, the founder of Visva-Bharati brought the first Nobel prize for India. Gurudev Ravindra Nath Tagore, the founder of Visva-Bharati brought the first Nobel prize for India,while Dr. Amartya Sen ,once the student of Visva-Bharati brought the Nobel prize in economics. He is the Asia's first Nobel prize winner in economics. Indira Gandhi, a former prime minister of India, was also student of this university.

Two of the greatest Indian Artists of first half of 20th century were students there who went on to become highly admired teachers in the Arts section ; Nandlal Bose and Ramkinkar Baij. M.K. Gandhi had invited NLB to make poster and other art works for the Haripur Congress Party meet. Indira Gandhi an alumna had asked Ramkinker Baij to make sculptures for the enterance at the Reserve Bank of India......Kuber and Yakshi done in cement adorn or even guard the gate of RBI till today.
