M.P Birla Planetarium built on September 29, 1962 is known to be one of the largest planetarium in India. The planetarium is situated in Kolkata, was inaugurated by Former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The foundation stone is laid on an acre of land leased by the West Bengal Government.
