The reasons are many. Secularism in west was a compulsion to come out of Biblical dictate and remain a king/knight. For Muslim its haram. For Hindus Sri Krshna says whichever way/means/name one worships it reaches ME. Slave Indians forgot this and learnt from foreign system of education to leak the boot that kicked them and be happy when the masters praise you for being obedient to them. Even today the journalists (English media) and the media owners are more interested to please their MASTERS (mostly abroad or the deshi goras ruling us) than serving the interest of the Nation or its people. Then there are leftist and Nehruvian intellectuals who feel by hiding truth and pampering criminals of minorities, secularism can be strengthened. The whole thing is this KI BHAIYA SABSE BADA VOTE.
