A PIL was filed in Apex Court to direct the Central Govt. to accept the demand of the Army Chief. but the SC rejected the PIL on the ground that it is a service matter n will be taken up accordingly.

"We are not here to fix the age of Army chief. This is purely a service matter. Why you are putting opinion of former CJIs in the court? Why should the opinion be annexed in the petition? We are on the very limited issue," the Bench said.

There is news about it -- there must not be any no controversy .and confusion ,, but it is created by the corrupt politicians in power to materialize some wrong deal and want to change the chief who can help them in the deal and pay offs . so the honest chief is the victim of the corrupt loot brigade .
