The official name of the Oscar award is the Academy Award of Merit. The statuette is made of gold-plated britannium on a black metal base. It has a height of 13.5 in and a weight of 8.5 lbs (3.85 kg). The statuette shows a knight holding a crusader's sword standing on a reel of film with five spokes.
