Q.
Dear Sirs,
I have a question to ask. What does the word 'survey' mean in these addresses?
Joint Commissioner (Food)
Food and Drug Administration, M.S.,
Survey No. 341, Bandra-Kurla Complex,
2nd floor, Bandra (East),
MUMBAI-400051.
or
Assistant Director ,
Drug Control Laboratory (Mumbai)
Survey No. 341, Bandra-Kurla Complex,
2nd floor, Bandra (East),
MUMBAI-400051.
Could anybody explain me? Some people told me that 'survey' means a plot, other - cadastral number or department, office... So, there were many different opinions. I hope you will help me! Thank you in advance!

The land on whch the buildings stand is patr of part of land belonging to perticular survey number. The municipality or State dvpt authorities make a servay of vacant lands and devide them to perticular measurement and then number them before selling it to the people.Since the plots are serveyed and numbered, they are recognised as survey numbers.
