When he was an eight-year old, Anirban Lahiri was inspired by Gaurav Gheis historic Gadgil Masters win at the Delhi Golf Club. But in his 12-year-old golf career and numerous attempts here, Lahiri could never come close to mastering its terrain. Putting aside that trauma, Lahiri won his maiden Asian Tour title, the Panasonic Open, at the venue which he says had given him very bad memories in the past.

Though it wasnt his best golf outing he shot 1-under 71 in the fourth round and won in a three-way playoff after being tied at 13-under 275 with overnight leaders Mardan Mamat and Manav Jaini Lahiris putter worked just when he needed it. And it turned out to be a pleasant day of firsts for the Bangalore golfer as his maiden victory was also a first on the DGC and the first playoff he ever played.
