The decision on war or no-war is never ever taken by the PM alone. Irrespective of who the PM or which party is ruling, the foreign policy towards Pakistan has always been determined by the diplomacy oriented people, who have deep knowledge.
When Kargil war broke, it was not because of Vajpayee ji alone that the decision was taken to go for almost a war. The condition had been demanding it for years, and Pakistani advance on the peak was a last straw, where Indian army had to make immediate move.
It is easy for us to say go for war. But there are our soldiers who may lose life and their families, their dear one. Yes, that is presumed to be part of soldier's duty, but, is he not a human too, just like you and me? Ask the wife and mother of the soldier who is on the front and get a feel.

War should be the last of the last option for a nation, even though the alternates may not be able to give us coffe-table sob and field-victory stories.
